Spring Creek Lakes Alliance pages are posted within the Blue Stem Lake Homeowners Association, Inc. web site.

The Spring Creek Lakes Alliance was formed September 7, 2004 to coordinate efforts to find effective solutions for problems affecting the lakes in the Spring Creek Watershed in N.W. Oklahoma City.
Information will be posted here so the residents of the participating lakes can stay informed.
The Spring Creek Watershed includes: Warwick, Blue Stem Lake, Ski Island Lake, Silver Lake, Lake Leven (Joe's Crab Shack), Twin Lakes, Regal Lake, Knight Lake, Eagle Lake, Woodlake Apartments, (I will add the rest as soon as I identify them)

For more information call Peggy Kahre 405-721-3063 or Russell Danner 405-728-3736
If you are new to this site, please take a moment to look at the Blue Stem Lake web site (www.BlueStemLake.com)

At the last meeting of the Spring Creek Lakes Alliance Mr.Keith Thomas, Fisheries Technician, Oklahoma Fishery Research Laboratory, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation had prepared an excellent slide show presentaion about Alligator weed. Unfortunately due to technical problems he did not get to present it. It is posted here in two formats.
If you have Microsoft Power Point on your computer choose the "Power Point slide show". The picture quality is much better. If not choose the web based presentation.

Not sure if you have "Power Point"? Just click on the Power Point link, if it works you, if not click on the web based link

Update Notes From SCLA Meeting March 24th
Keith Thomas and Gene Gilliland of the Oklahoma Fishery Research Laboratory, Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation presented the plan for the release of the Alligatorweed Flea Beetle this spring. All lakes in the Spring Creek watershed that are have Alligator Weed will be treated.
Updates about when, where, and how you can help will be posted here as soon as we receive them.

They also distributed a pamphlet titled "Don't Free Lilly" that is intended to educate the public about aquatic plants.
The main source for non-native problem aquatic plants in our lakes is thought to be releases from garden ponds or those selling pond plants.
Alligatorweed Flea Beetle release update:
The beetles were released Friday, May 13th 2005.
The Oklahoma Dept of Agriculture will monitor the effects over the summer.
